For the past decade, Preoccupations have crafted a distinct post-punk sound, where brittle, stabbing guitars clash with cavernous drums and sinuous basslines, creating a tense yet immersive sonic landscape. Their music is both formidable and familiar, evolving from interesting rhythms and some aggressive sounds, to the more 80s synth pop inspired ones.

In October, they will bring their upcoming album Ill at Ease—set for release in May—to the stage at Control Club, offering the audience a first taste of their latest musical vision.

This is one that ventures into new sonic territories while staying true to the band’s introspective and dark lyrical core. Influenced by whatever lingers in their collective subconscious, the music channels anxieties, existential dread, and fleeting hope through vivid, sometimes dystopian landscapes.

The lyrics explore barren worlds of shame and death, distant sci-fi realms of solitude, and the absurdity of modern existence. Some songs feel like personal reflections, questioning purpose and stability, while others are a resigned gaze at a world spiraling toward collapse.

After 13 years, the band remains dedicated to creating and sharing their evolving vision. For now, the ground is still firmly beneath us, but it’s hard to shake the feeling that it might not be for long, and we will forever be, Ill at Ease.

The ones opening the night formed in 2011 by Peter (VĂDUVA BOB, Uma Swan) and are now a dark alternative full band.

Always exploring new territory – from shoegaze and post-punk to shadowy gothic-grunge – Faunlet defy easy categorization. Each album unveils a new sonic landscape while retaining their trademark: a sound that’s dark, intimate, and deeply personal.
