Sana Cissokho is a kora virtuoso whose mastery transcends borders. His upbringing in a musical family shaped his extraordinary skills. Hailing from Casamance in southern Senegal, Cissokho was born into a Mandingo Diali (or griot) family, where the kora was an essential part of his education.

Surrounded by a family of renowned musicians, he was nurtured in the art of storytelling and mastery of the kora. Descended from a lineage of legendary kora masters, Cissokho embodies the deep significance of the instrument in his heritage, carrying on the rich tradition of Mandingo music.

With a sophisticated repertoire that combines traditional and contemporary sounds, Cissokho has captivated audiences by performing at renowned festivals such as Sauti Za Busara in Tanzania and World Music Week in Portugal. His unique musical talent is showcased on the international world music scene through his captivating performances and engaging stage presence.

Currently a percussionist for Anton Pann Ensemble, with a deep understanding of traditional percussion instruments such as the darbuka, bendir, riq, and frame drums, Ghassan blends ancestral techniques with modern improvisation, creating a powerful and evocative sound.
