✒️ How is artificial intelligence transforming translation, language teaching, and creative writing? Join us for an inspiring panel featuring Cornel-Florin Moraru (National University of Arts, Bucharest), Ondřej Hrách (Aignos, Prague), and Jan Kij (Palacký University Olomouc).
🦾 Our guests will present diverse perspectives on AI – from philosophical reflections on aesthetics to practical experiments in teaching Czech and creative writing with AI.
Speakers:
🟢 Cornel-Florin Moraru studied philosophy and classical philology, a master’s degree in philosophy, and holds two doctorates (in philosophy, specializing in aesthetics, obtained in 2017, and in visual arts, obtained in 2022). He is an associate professor and doctoral coordinator at the National University of Arts in Bucharest and currently teaches courses in Philosophy, Philosophy of Art, Applied Ethics, Aesthetics, and Analytical Aesthetics.
A prolific and consistent publisher, having already published 4 books, Cornel is also an active radio producer. He produces the only radio show dedicated to philosophy in the Romanian cultural landscape – Izvoare de Filosofie (Sources of Philosophy) as well as segments on the ethics of science and neuroscience, both of which are broadcasted on Radio Romania Cultural.
🔵 PhDr. Ondřej Hrách studied Translation and Interpreting at Charles University, but he has been interested in technology his whole life. He is also one of the co-founders of the Aignos association, which focuses on education in the field of AI.
Since 2021, Ondřej and his non-profit Aignos have conducted hundreds of workshops on AI and creative co-creation with AI. How are Czech teenagers writing stories with AI, and how are Czech translators using AI creatively? This presentation shares real insights from all across Czechia.
🟡 Jan Kij is a Germanist and Bohemist who is currently studying in a doctoral degree program at the Department of German Studies at Palacký University Olomouc. Among other things, he is also involved in teaching German and Czech for foreigners. He is currently specializing in German linguistics, but he also deals with didactics and various issues related to language teaching. His personal interests mainly include reading and traveling by train.
Together with Dr. Hradilová, he has started research focused on teaching Czech as a foreign language using AI tools. Their work maps and compares the development of lexical and grammatical competence, as well as productive writing skills, both with and without the use of artificial intelligence.
Moderator:
🔴 Gabriela Georgescu is passionate about mathematics and foreign languages, a Bohemist and Germanist who studied at the University of Bucharest. After completing her master’s degree with a thesis in comparative linguistics, she worked as a lexicographer for a publishing house in the Czech Republic, and went on to pursue a carrier in translation approaching all of its forms – simultaneous and consecutive interpreting, literary translation, as well as technical and legal translation.
🤝 Free entrance. The discussion will be held in English. The event is organized by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bucharest, together with the Czech Centre Bucharest and the The Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures.
