Vă invităm sâmbătă 7 martie, la a treia întâlnire Zen și psihologie în care Maestrul Koshin împreună cu László Szedres și Andrei Radu, terapeuți și călugări Zen, explorează suprapunerile și distincțiile celor două tradiții. Întâlnirea, intitulată Corpul uitat, este formată din două părți: o serie de conferințe și discuții dimineață și un workshop după-amiază.
Se poate participa doar la conferințele de dimineață sau la întreaga zi. Atât conferințele cât și workshop-ul vor fi doar în limba engleză (fără traducere în română!)

֎ about Zen and psychology

This event is part of a series of meetings entitled „Zen and …” that bring together two perspectives, juxtaposing them to enrich each other.
Zen is about the mind. Once you say „mind” in a Western context, you cannot but use psychological terms. Zen uses the same word but points to something different. And yet, a meeting is possible – not only an intellectual-speculative nor superficially self-satisfying but a meeting between and with people who actively live these traditions in their lived lives. And through this meeting, many of the concepts, terms, and fruits of both traditions become clearer and more beneficial.

֍ about this meeting

We propose a series of events centered around the topic the body. At first glance, one might think that the two traditions cannot meet in this place: psychology seems to have forgotten the body, while Zen seems to place it at the center of its Path. However, we believe that if we look deeper, the meeting is possible and to realize it, we propose a double folded encounter.

֍ meeting and speaking – Introductory Conferences and conversations
In the morning, for approximately 3 hours, we’ll introduce and explore the topic in a series of lectures and interactive discussions and exercises. We take as starting point the contradictory (and often conflictual) relation with the body in our contemporary life and unfold and explore it, as well as possible alternatives. We’ll be guided by questions such as: What do we actually mean when we say my body? What does the presence or the absence of the body mean? Where does ignoring or negating the body leads? What is and what might be the role and position of the body in our existence? Starting from such questions, we invite you to a meeting in which we will touch on topics such as the disembodied vs. the embodied, forgetting the body, integrating the body, awakening the body, both from a Zen and a psychoanalytic point of view.

֍ The Forgotten Body – the workshop
In the afternoon will take place The Forgotten Body – a small group format introductory workshop, aimed at those who wish to involve the body in their self-discovery and healing process.
The body is wiser than we might think – it stores our early wounds, and as we learned to protect ourselves, we created a character defense pattern, which has its own particular bodily armor. Through Core Energetics practices, we aim to return to the free flow of life energy that we had natural access to as newborns: inward-focused meditative techniques, expressive bodywork, breathing exercises alternate with each other. In this workshop we can work not just symbolically, but through genuine experience, we release tensions from the body, we embrace emotions by expressing them through our voice, and movements. We meet ourselves and with the others in the present moment. With these exercises we can expand our emotional capacity, we can release some steam, we ground ourselves, and reconnect with ourselves.

The Temple’s activities are supported by donations. The suggested donation for this meeting is 600 lei for the whole event and 300 lei for the conferences in the morning. ֍ about the hosts

Ionuț Koshin is a Zen master in the Deshimaru-Zeisler lineage. He currently serves as abbot at the Temple in Bucharest and travels frequently to guide practice in other centers in Romania and Bulgaria. He is a university lecturer and a recent father.

Andrei Radu is a Jungian psychotherapist and Zen monk. He has a psychotherapeutic practice in private practice and is following the Routerat program of the International Association for Analytical Psychology. I hope this meeting will provide a flavor of the subject and ignite curiosity for direct experience.

László Szedres is a Zen monk and an Integrative Core Dynamics (ICD) therapist. In zazen practice, which he’s embodying for more than 20 years at Mokusho Zen House, the unity of body and mind is essential – it was from this experience that he searched for body-oriented therapeutic methods, which he has been working with for eight years. He works as an ICD therapist and is continuously training in various somatic therapeutic approaches.
