Bridging Worlds: Digital Competence and Language Education for Sustainable Tourism

Join us for an international conference that brings together educators, trainers, researchers, and tourism professionals interested in how language education, digital skills, and sustainable tourism can work together.
Over two inspiring days, participants will enjoy keynote talks, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, all designed to share ideas, practical experiences, and innovative approaches to teaching and learning. The sessions will explore the use of digital tools, task-based and real-world teaching methods, and their relevance to today’s tourism contexts, as well as in other communication contexts.
The conference offers a friendly space for exchange, collaboration, and professional connection, encouraging dialogue between education providers, academic institutions, and professionals from the tourism sector (and beyond).

Specific aims
👨🏻‍💻 To advance digital pedagogical integration – the conference aims to provide a focused platform for language educators and curriculum developers to share, evaluate, and adopt best practices for integrating cutting-edge digital tools (including artificial intelligence) into language instruction, specifically targeting communication needs within the sustainable tourism sector.
📚To enhance teachers’ and trainers’ skills in task-based language teaching (TBLT) – providing hands-on workshops that demonstrate how authentic tourism-related tasks can foster communicative competence and intercultural awareness.
🤝 To encourage collaboration between language education providers, tourism professionals, and policy-makers – this specific aim is enabling a shared vision for sustainable tourism development supported by effective language learning and is facilitating the exchange of best practices between academic institutions and the private tourism sector.
🗣️ To provide a forum for sharing expertise and European project outcomes with a focus on enhancing digital competences for more effective multimodal communication in a variety of contexts.
🤝 To strengthen regional and international networking opportunities – networking will be encouraged among Eaquals member institutions, local universities, language schools, and cultural organisations.

Call for presentations
We warmly invite educators, trainers, researchers, and professionals working in the fields of language education, digital competence, and sustainable tourism to submit proposals for presentations. We particularly welcome contributions presenting Erasmus+ projects or other relevant national and international initiatives aligned with the conference theme. This is an excellent opportunity to share innovative practices, research findings, teaching approaches, and partnership experiences with an international audience. Selected contributors will be included in the official conference program!
